Band reviews
A woman on no importance This band is one of the greatest to come out of Peterlee. Marc Oliver, lead singer, brings a melodic sound to an already easy listening tune. Using wine glasses and acoustic instruments they make unusual yet beautiful music. I first witnessed this band at a place called sounds alive. A gig night organised by the boys themselves, unfortunatly the night has ended due to problems with angsty pre-teens. I thoroughly enjoyed my experiences at those nights, especially when the four boys took the stage. Dressed like they are in an american teen drama they were not as i expected. Matt uses wine glasses in only a few songs but still manages to get a beautiful sound out of his guitar on other songs. My current favourite song is 'The tragedy of being a girl', but their latest single is going to be the powerful 'tonight I sleep with you'. Adele Carne www.myspace.com/awoni The winter Jargon The winter Jargon are spirited by a creepy undertone of the leadsingers voice. She brings a dark edge to her band, managing to keep high pitched vocals lasting for a suspiciously long time. The sound of the guitars echoe through you as it ploughs into lower chords. Live this band has done amazing things, on CD they manage to keep their edge. Check them out. Adele Carne
